I’m trying to win an iPad 2 in the iSave, iWrite, iPad competition from PlayPennies.com! Which requires me to blog about money-saving… so here goes!
My top tips:
Price Comparison Websites
Check http://www.froogle.co.uk before buying and http://www.ebay.co.uk to see how much can be saved by buying second hand. Never venture to the supermarket without checking http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk for the latest offers!
Checkout the latest offerings http://www.americanexpress.com/uk normally give new customers 5% cashback on purchase made in the first 3 months of opening an account and up to 1.25% for purchases thereafter. For those retailers that don’t accept amex- http://www.egg.com offer a mastercard with 1% cashback on all purchases. It may not seem a lot but on top of other savings it soon adds up!
Online Referral Cashback
Probably one in every two purchases I make online earn me cashback through either http://www.quidco.com or http://www.topcashback.co.uk. It’s really quick and easy to signup and the money goes straight into your bank account. Look out for insurances, service providers (phone, internet, tv), utilities etc- these can easily earn you £100+ each!
Sell / Swap Unused Stuff
It may seem obvious- but I used to collect everything and could never find space to store it all. Over the past few years I have begun regularly clearing out old games, films & gadgets. Consider taking them into the office or mentioning them on social networking sites like facebook and twitter (you wont get hit with fees and you will know they’re going to a good home). As a last resort just list them on http://www.ebay.co.uk
Speak to your energy supplier- most are currently offering free energy monitors to help you become more “aware”, and many offer discount/subsidies on energy saving tech.
